At least 24 civilians killed by Turkish bombing in Syria's al-Bab in 24 hours
At least 24 civilians, including 11 children, were killed during the continuous bombing by Turkey in the last 24 hours against the Syrian city of al-Bab, the last stronghold of the Islamic State terror organization in the northern province of Aleppo, a British monitoring group reported on Thursday.
Cairo, Feb 16 .- At least 24 civilians, including 11 children, were killed during the continuous bombing by Turkey in the last 24 hours against the Syrian city of al-Bab, the last stronghold of the Islamic State terror organization in the northern province of Aleppo, a British monitoring group reported on Thursday.
This increases the number of civilian deaths since the start of the Turkish offensive against al-Bab on Feb. 7, to 89, including 27 minors, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
The fighting continues on the outskirts and north of al-Bab between IS and the rebel factions backed by Turkish aviation and tanks.
According to SOHR, rebel factions managed on Saturday to break into al-Bab from the west, and took control of 10 percent of the city.
At the same time, forces loyal to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad are advancing in their offensive against IS in villages on the southern outskirts of al-Bab. (EFE)
